spotting

Hoping some wise readers can help me. Since I started ttc i have experienced months where i spot before my period. never had this before and to this day not one doctor could ever explain it. this month i literally had some brown and near black spotting. not alot just on the paper, but enough where my aggravation meter went through the roof. you think with the money i have spent i should get an answer. therefore i am turning to you. at this point most of you probably know more than any doctor. and if you have experienced this please let me know. my level of appreciation to hold on to my sanity would be awesome.

good news, since today is day 1 and I started lupron on day 21 i get to go in for baselines and start this all up again. I am trying to get and be excited!

  1. I don't know why it happens to you but dark brown/black blood is old blood. How far ahead of AF does it happen?

  2. This actually did happen to me, but only once and it was before we started treatment but we were TTC. I told my Dr. and asked if it was possibly a chemical or something. He said no, (with DH's semen analysis natural pregnancy is basically impossible. He has only 100,000 sperm and only 1% of those are healthy) He said he thinks it is due to all the stress. I know that stress does affect my hormones. When I lived in Mozambique I didn't get my period the whole time! I never felt THAT stressed out, but I think a lot of it was subconcious.

I hope you get an answer to your question, and I'm sending you tons of good vibes for you upcoming cycle

  3. I have this nearly every cycle. It started after I went off the pill. Not to freak you out, but I am assuming in my case it has something to do with my DOR and bad eggs, since I never had it before I went on the pill 10 years earlier. That said, lots of people without DOR have it too...I did one post on my blog and got lots of comments from people saying they got it as well. It's never been explained to me. Sorry I can't be more help, but you're not the only one!

    1. in some sad way it helps to hear that no one has been able to explain it to you either! it really helps to not be the only one

I hope you are doing ok!

  4. I also had this once I went off the pill. i don't think it started right away but somewhere in the TTC journey it just became normal to have brown spotting a day or 2 before AF. I mentioned it to doctors and no one seemed concerned so I didn't really press it. Sorry I'm not more helpful.

  5. thank you so much for responding. it helps to feel not so alone. i cant say mine is related to the pill i have only been on the pill for 6 months and that was 7 yrs ago. i always hated the pill and wanted to conserve my fertility..which is hilarious now!

  6. I usually spot one or two days befor my period, have full flow for only a day, and then spot for another couple days. I don't have an explanation for why, so I'm no help there, except to say you are not alone in the spotting. Try not to go too insane. I would miss you.

  7. i had a lot of episodes of spotting when my re put me on progesterone. i would get what i thought was my period a few days early...then, a few days later the real deal would come. i am so sorry. i know it messes with your head and makes for a tricky few days! i'm thinking of you and sending tons of love and luck with this cycle!! big prayers!

  8. I don't want to alarm you, just share that I have ALWAYS (since I was 13) had this issue-spotting brown before and sometimes after my period. it turns out that I have endometriosis. brown-black discharge usually indicates old blood that was not thoroughly shed during a previous menstruaton. in your case, this is just a freak once-in-blue-moon happening, I wouldn't worry. Just wanted to share what the cause is in my case

  9. thank you so much melissa. i have always worried about endo too but i had a full lap/hysterscopy in july 2011 and they found nothing! i was almost praying for endo for a reason for this madness. i have no other symptoms of endo too but during the lap i had asked them to look for this extensively. ugh! i was aware that it was old blood it just seems weird for it to start now. i am really starting to think it is from the meds as that is when it all started. we only tried for a few months before seeking an re and that is what i can relate it to.
